After registering your vehicle on the e-CMR portal, you’ll need to wait for validation. Typically, it takes 24 hours for your application to be approved. Once your account is approved, you can log in to the e-CMR portal to continue the registration process
To apply for your tint permit, you must fulfill two key requirements. Firstly, you need a doctor’s report from a government hospital explaining why you need a tint permit for your vehicle. Secondly, you’ll need a recommendation from reputable security agencies such as the police, DSS, EFCC, the Army, or Navy stating the reasons for your tinting requirement.
Of the two requirements, obtaining a doctor’s report is usually the quicker and more convenient option. Once you have the report, you can proceed with your tinted permit application. Please note that there is a non-refundable fee of 21,500 (inclusive of VAT) for the registration.
It’s important to understand that the issuance of a tint permit is not automatic after payment of the statutory fees. The Nigerian Police force has the exclusive right to approve or deny your request. Therefore, it’s crucial to submit the original doctor’s report and accurate particulars of your vehicle, as any errors could disqualify you.

Register your vehicle on the eCMR portal using this link: https://cmris.npf.gov.ng/

After registering, wait for 24 hours for your application to be approved. Then return to the eCMR portal and click on the login Menu (if you have already signed out). Select CMR Information under CMR Request and Motor vehicle Tinted glass permit under CMR Sub Request.

Select your vehicle. It should be displayed with your plate number (as shown below).

As shown below, select your preferred state for physical verification. The location you select here should be where you currently reside in case you are invited for physical verification, as the police may invite you over before approving your application.
Secondly, select the reason why you need to tint your car’s windows. As we advised earlier, Medical reasons are usually the most convenient as you can easily walk into any government hospital and get a doctor’s report.
Scan and upload a soft copy of your Doctor’s report and click continue. You will be redirected to the payment page. As stipulated earlier in this article, registering for a tint permit on the eCMR portal will cost you a non-refundable fee of 21,500 naira only.
After completing the payment, your application will be processed. The Nigerian Police force will review your submission and may contact you for any additional information or verification.
Once your application is approved, you will receive a notification on the e-CMR portal. You can then log in to download and print your tint permit. Remember to keep this permit in your vehicle at all times, as you may be required to present it to law enforcement officials when requested.
It’s important to note that the tint permit is valid for a specific period, usually one year. You will need to renew your permit before it expires to avoid any legal issues.
