Privacy Policy

Effective date: 9 June 2026. Last updated: 9 June 2026. Jurisdiction: Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you request a quote, contact us, or buy a service, we collect your name, phone number, email address, vehicle details and any message you send. For driver, insurance and licensing services we may collect additional documents you choose to provide.

Vehicle and location data. When you use our GPS tracking, fleet, fuel or video telematics products, our platform processes location, route, speed, ignition, sensor and related telematics data from the device installed in your vehicle, so that we can show you the vehicle, send alerts and assist recovery.

Technical data. When you visit our website we may collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed and referring page, through cookies and similar technologies.

How we use your information

We use your information to respond to enquiries and provide quotes, to install and operate the services you buy, to deliver tracking, alerts and stolen-vehicle recovery assistance, to process payments and renewals, to provide customer support, to improve our products, and to send you service messages. We use vehicle and location data only to deliver the service to you and, where you ask us to, to assist in recovering a stolen vehicle.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only where it is needed to deliver the service: with our technicians and support team, with the SIM, hosting and software providers that run the platform, with insurers or licensing bodies when you ask us to arrange those services, and with the Nigerian police or other lawful authorities when you ask us to assist a recovery or where we are required to by law.

Data retention

We keep your account and vehicle data for as long as you are a customer and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, tax and recovery-record requirements. Movement history is retained for the period stated in your plan, after which it is archived or deleted.

Security and data breaches

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including access controls on our platform and NCC-registered SIMs on our devices, and we limit access to the staff who need it. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Car Tracker Nigeria is not liable for unauthorised access to, or loss or disclosure of, data caused by events outside our reasonable control, by the acts of third parties, or by your own failure to keep your login details secure.

If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to affect you, we will act in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, including notifying the Nigeria Data Protection Commission and, where required, the affected individuals, within the timeframes set by law.

Tracking of drivers and third parties

Where you use our products to track a vehicle used by your drivers, staff or other individuals, you act as the data controller for that monitoring. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to do so and for informing those individuals as the law requires. You agree that you, and not Car Tracker Nigeria, are responsible for meeting those obligations, and you indemnify us against any claim arising from your failure to do so.

Your rights

Under the NDPA you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, to ask us to delete it where it is no longer needed, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
