Fuel monitoring that stops the siphon.
CTN installs fuel-level monitoring on trucks, generators and storage tanks across Nigeria, with calibrated sensors that flag siphoning and short-delivered refuels the moment they happen.
The sensor that closes the fuel-loss gap.
Most Nigerian fleet operators lose 15 to 30% of their diesel to route siphoning, depot pilferage, and unauthorised refuelling stops. The losses do not show up on the GPS dashboard because GPS cannot see inside the tank. Fuel monitoring installation closes the gap. On a mid-size fleet, it usually pays for itself inside 60 to 90 days from siphon prevention alone.
NCC-licensed SIMs that survive past month one.
The sensor reports through the paired tracker on a CTN SIM. Cheap competitors use black-market SIMs that deactivate in 2-3 weeks. We buy SIMs in volume from MTN, Airtel, Glo, 9mobile under our corporate licence. Your fuel data stays connected.
Tank calibration at install. Accuracy is not theoretical.
A sensor without calibration says "65% full," which is different litres on a Mack tractor than on a Volvo. We calibrate at install by draining and refilling in measured steps. The curve is uploaded so every reading is actual litres. Most cheap competitors skip this.
Native integration with our tracker stack.
Most fuel-monitoring resellers integrate via third-party API that breaks every other month. Our sensor reports through the same hardware as our Truck Tracker, into the same dashboard, on the same login. Operations sees fuel anomalies and route deviations side-by-side.
Why Nigerian operators pick CTN Fuel Monitoring.
Capacitive (default), ultrasonic optional
Steel, aluminium, plastic, any shape
Every 30 seconds
±2% after tank calibration
Reports via paired tracker SIM
From quotation to live readings in four steps.
Asset assessment
Vehicle, vessel, or generator? Tank shape, material, capacity, engine type. We recommend capacitive (default) or ultrasonic (non-invasive) and quote per asset.
Yard or dock install
Marine and fleet technicians install on-site. Sensor mounts inside the fuel tank with sealed connectors. Wiring through tamper-proof harnessing. 90-120 minutes per asset.
Tank calibration
We drain and refill in measured steps (10, 25, 50, 75, 100% capacity) and upload the calibration curve. Every reading translates to actual litres, not theoretical ones.
Dashboard activation & alert tuning
Fuel readings appear on your dashboard. First 14 days we tune siphon-alert thresholds against your real refuelling patterns to eliminate false positives.
How fuel monitoring in Nigeria actually works.
The detail buyers and search engines look for, in plain language.
A capacitive sensor sits inside the tank and reads the dielectric change as fuel level rises and falls. Readings push to the CTN dashboard every 30 seconds with ±2% accuracy after calibration. The system maps each reading against GPS location and engine state. When 200 litres disappear between Mile 2 and Berger, neither during a refuelling stop nor while the engine is consuming, the operations director gets an instant SMS and app alert with location, time, and quantity. We are the fuel monitoring company Nigerian haulage and marine operators trust because the install is real and the calibration is honest.
Full refuelling logs with timestamp, location, and litres added feed into the dashboard alongside tracker data. The fuel monitoring system price in Nigeria is ₦650,000 first year per vehicle or vessel, ₦80,000 renewal. Pairs natively with Truck Tracking in Nigeria, Boat Tracker, and the Fleet Management dashboard. For oil and gas operators running IVMS-grade compliance, fuel-monitoring data also formats into NMDPRA and DPR audit templates.
What it costs
Pricing for fuel monitoring starts from N650,000 , with a N80,000 annual renewal. Per vehicle or vessel. Year 1 covers the capacitive fuel-level sensor, professional installation at your yard or dock, full tank calibration, dashboard integration, and a 2-year warranty. Renewals from year 2 cover SIM, data, dashboard access, and account support. Multi-asset fleets get volume pricing.

Where Nigerian operations install fuel monitoring.
Trailers running Lagos-Onitsha, Apapa-Kano, Onne-Abuja. FMCG vans across Lagos, Abuja, PH. Most see fuel anomalies drop 15-25% within 60 days.
Fishing fleets, water-taxi operators, oil-service tenders. Boat fuel theft happens at the jetty overnight before the next trip. The sensor catches the loss the moment it happens.
Diesel generators at offices, hospitals, telecom base stations, manufacturing facilities. Standby fuel theft during long PHCN outages is the main loss the sensor surfaces.

Questions, answered.
How does the capacitive fuel-level sensor work?
A capacitive sensor is a metal rod inserted vertically into the tank. As fuel level rises and falls, the dielectric constant between the rods changes. The sensor measures the change and converts it to a fuel-level reading. ±2% accurate after calibration, every 30 seconds.
What is the difference between capacitive and ultrasonic?
Capacitive mounts inside the tank and reads directly. Most accurate, our default for trucks and marine. Ultrasonic mounts outside and pings the fuel surface through the tank wall. Non-invasive but less accurate on saddle tanks or baffled marine tanks.
Can a thief defeat the sensor?
Defeating the sensor is hard; defeating the alert is harder. Tamper-proof harnessing means any disconnect leaves a power-cut signature within seconds. Even if the device is bypassed, the symptom (sudden fuel-level drop) triggers the alert.
Do I need GPS tracking too?
Technically standalone is possible, but we strongly recommend pairing with Truck Tracking (or Boat Tracker for marine). Fuel data alone tells you something disappeared. GPS tells you where. The two together are the actionable product.
